Two children are allowed an inside romp through the historic Colonial Theatre in Boston, thanks to their father's position as house manager. As they explore backstage, their discoveries reveal the fascinating history of the theater and even the ghosts of past performers. Including theatre terminology and definitions, this delightful story reveals the magic of the theatre, both on and offstage.
From the beginning of the book the wonderful illustrations will catch your attention. This book really tells a fun and educational story to young readers. it contains cute fairy adorned "definition boxes" to help kids understand the theatre terms.
My daughter (7) really enjoyed reading the book with me. She's an advanced reader but did need help with a few words, so I would say that it's probably a good book for 8-10 year olds. 'Footlights and Fairydust" really allowed me to interact with my child and learn some things about the theatre myself.
Something I really liked...info about different popular theatre shows are subtly thrown in to the story for kids to learn about. It's really a "sneaky" educational story LOL!
I think little divas and budding actors and actresses would love to read this book and check out the beautiful illustrations.
